I’m putting myself forward to be our next Labour MP

I have served the public my whole adult life, as a special constable, secondary school teacher and local councillor and now I’m ready to serve as our MP. I was raised in Medway and grew up here under the Tories in the 1980s and 1990s seeing first hand the impacts of Dock Closures and unemployment.

I attended local schools and currently manage an active department in an Academy school in Medway. Prior to this I served as a Special Constable for the Metropolitan Police and a background working in finance and public affairs.

I am an active trade unionist with both USDAW and the National Education Union as well as a member of Open Labour and the Co-Operative Party.  I am pragmatic and have a strong awareness that we win in communities like ours when we face outward to people’s concerns.

My background in public services and working with communities has given me the determination to step forward once again. I see the impact of Tory policies every day. And I’ve had enough.

Watch my video to get to know me and why I’m standing to represent and champion Chatham and Aylesford and the villages again.

I’m putting myself forward again to be our next Labour MP.

It is vital for our communities and for people across Chatham and Aylesford that we have a Labour MP and a Labour government like we had with Jonathan Shaw in the 2000s who won three consecutive terms for the first time ever.

A Labour MP who delivered and has lasting respect from residents across all corners of the constituency.

I have the experience to bring people together, the commitment and the sense of purpose to make things happen.

Join me again in our journey together to make the change that’s needed.

Why we’re backing Tris

Tris was my former ward colleague, and I came to know him as a valuable asset bringing Millennium Green into public ownership; securing monies for road safety improvements and working to get new play areas. He also fought local campaigns to change a School Trust and partnered on work to improve safety on Barnfield. His profession as a teacher and his knowledge of the constituency and running campaigns shows he is an undeniable talent

Tris is an experienced and diligent campaigner who has worked with Snodland Labour for many years. He understands the different and diverse communities in the constituency and has a track record of knocking on doors, listening to local people and representing them in the media. He is a well respected and seasoned campaigner and someone who brings an awareness of the significant challenges ahead. He can turn Chatham and Aylesford red again.

“Tris has energy, determination and a deep understanding of the local community. As the local MP Tris  will be a powerful voice for Chatham and Aylesford. He has served here for as a councillor for a number of years and he’ll always put it first. I strongly support him to be the Labour candidate.”
